Labirinto/thisquietarmy - split

Once again, the one-man drone machine thisquietarmy from Montreal (Canada) teams up with another sonically different experimental post-rock band Labirinto from Sao Paulo (Brazil).
While Labirinto & thisquietarmy are from different hemispheres, they both have a mutual admiration for each other's sound and work ethics, as well as their shared influences of textured sounds such ambient, psychedelic, post-rock & black metal. Furthermore, their common perspective of the world have bound them to create a record inspired by cultural & social values, political situations and universal phenomenons.

Limited to 600 copies on cd and 500 copies on vinyl

Gorath - Apokálypsis (Unveiling The Age That Is Not To Come) vinyl edition

Concept: about the Apocalypse of John. Many have tried to interpret these visions, but very few have managed to look beyond the madness, beyond the deceit of the false "God" that so many weaklings worship. Those desperate fools who put their faith and hope in the final judgement by their "God" are up for an unpleasant revelation, for He is not who He claims to be. Cursed is he who reads aloud the words of the prophecy and doomed are those who hear and who keep what is written therein...

Finally available on vinyl. Limited to 250 copies

Adoran - s/t

>We're happy to announce the release of ADORAN, the new project from Aidan Baker (Nadja, Whisper Room, BBS, Caudal, ... ) and Dorian Williamson (Northumbria, Holoscene).
Spanning nearly an hour, the tracks of this album explore Aidan's and Dorian's sludgy doom-side in a whole different way: atmospheric as ever, yet heavily relying on rhythmic patterns.
Aidan's drums sound bone-crushing, and are really the pulse of ADORAN's music. Straightforward drumming or playing around with syncopations, it makes the odd sludgy sounds Dorian produces come vibrantly alive.
In light of these gentlemen's oeuvre, this albums sounds both familiar and at the same time excitingly fresh.
The album is mastered by James Plotkin, which contributes tremendously to the delicately brutal sounds of ADORAN.
The music is full and heavy, but rich in detail. An amazing job by Plotkin, that surely has done justice to the aural experience Aidan and Dorian envisioned.
If you're a fan of either Aidan or Dorian, or you're a sludgy doom fan in general, we couldn't recommend this one enough.

Limited to 750 copies, for fans of: Melvins, Buried at Sea, OM, Manatees, Neurosis, Minsk, ...

Official release date: May 14th.

Syndrome

To coincide with the 2013 Syndrome tour, we decided to properly present the music that started Mathieu Vandekerckhove's (Amenra, Kingdom, Sembler Deah, ...) introspective musical journey.
Previously released as an extremely limited cd-r, the music was now collecting dust in the vaults. However, the eerie soundscapes and contemplative drones of this very first effort are extremely accomplished in their own right.
These haunting tunes deserve a new life out of the archives. They're just too good to be locked away!
As Syndrome will hit the road to present the latest album to a large audience, we all deemed it fit to present both the starting point and culmination point of Syndrome's musical evolution to date.
Therefore, we have seized the moment to have the demo pressed and presented in a beautiful digifile CD. This one is limited to 300 copies. Part of those copies were be sold exclusively on tour.
Limited copies are available through Consouling Sounds, in order to give all the fans around the globe the chance to grab a copy of Syndrome's extraordinary first steps.

It'll become clear that MAUDLIN evolved into a roaring beast! Maturity and intensity are the keywords to this album and the live shows that will accompany the release.

The Black Heart Rebellion - Har Nevo

TBHR has changed, shed its old skin, and slowly but surely reshaped its original mold. HAR NEVO is the band's second album and became a conjuring and restless creation. TBHR shows off many faces. Starting in the punk scene in 2004, the band's remarkable course roller-coasted from the international underground to more public stages in and around Belgium. The band was constantly on the hunt for new impulses, either visually, graphically or musically. The new album reflects that steady, artistic evolution.
HAR NEVO oozes with waiting, tiresome and disconcerting. Working patiently and endlessly towards an inevitable outburst.
European & North American edition comes as a shiny golden cd in jewelcase with glossy slipcase.

Gorath - The Chronicles of Khiliasmos

Gorath's new album, The Chronicles of Khiliasmos, will also be the last ever Gorath album that'll be unleashed on this earth.
But instead of lamenting the burial of Gorath, it's a time to rejoice: their sixth full-length marks a tremendous termination point for this Belgian black metal outfit.
Gorath's path has been one of exploring experimental digressions and steering into more progressive waters with every release - to much critical acclaim.
Their latest and last offering displays a band that has fully embraced their position at the vanguard of extreme metal. The Chronicles of Khiliasmos renders a matured and seasoned take on progressive or post-black metal.
The slow, doomy and complex ambient compositions not only characterize the sound of Gorath at its culmination point, it also hints at the future and of what to be expected after Gorath's funeration.
Although this end is a pathway to a new beginning, it's only appropriate to first take some time to mourn the loss for the Belgian metal scene, and to savor Gorath's legacy and relish this last supper.

Alkerdeel/A Den Of Robbers - CM Kamp 1996/Horion Jugend (split 12")

Alkerdeel (b) is back, and goes way back. The material of the first side of this split dates from the 'Luizig' era. Recordings took place in Maldegem somewhere in 2006, in their garage, with a dictaphone. So you know what to expect: noisy drony black doom tunes that push the boundaries of the threshold of hearing. This winter, the Ghent area will surely shake on its foundations when these three previously unreleased tracks are finally discharged.
After years of silence, A Den of Robbers (b) come back with a side of full on frenzy. This Ghent quartet still manages to destroy everything that comes in their way. Their unique filthy blend of grindcore, doom and sludge makes up for a noisy sludge assault. No less than eight tracks of aural madness are tightly fitted on glorious black wax.
All music was intentionally mastered for vinyl by James Plotkin.
This memorable split 12" is limited to only 333 copies. Only 111 copies will be available through mailorder. The other copies will be sold exclusively at Alkerdeel and A Den of Robbers shows.

Snailking - Samsara

ConSouling Sounds proudly presents Sweden's newest riff-beast Snailking.
From a band who's name nods to Ufomammut, it doesn't come as a surprise "Samsara" is a full on sludge assault.
Taking cue from bands like YOB, Sleep or Dopethrone era Electric Wizard, they forge ultra heavy riffs with a psychedelic trippy edge.
The 3 tracks from this debut album span nearly 40 minutes, and brings you the finest quality sludge the contemporary doom scene has to offer.
If sludge is your weapon of choice, Snailking delivers enough ammo to surely blow you away!
Limited digifile edition of 500 copies.

Year Of No Light/thisquietarmy

Previously released as a sold out vinyl release on Destructure Records, the Year of No Light split/collaboration with thisquietarmy sees a shiny brand new edition on cd.
Both bands are pretty distinct and sound miles apart - not only geographically with Year of No Light hailing from Bordeaux (France) and thisquietarmy being a native of Montreal (Canada), but also musically. Where thisquietarmy operates within the register of dreamy doom/drone soundscapes, infused with krautrock, post-rock, doom and even black metal, Year of No Light uses a more heavy vocabulary with their music firmly rooted in sludge and doom/drone metal. While the things that separates them are obvious, influences of shoegaze, ambient an psychedelic rock - to name just a few things - binds them. They most certainly have their own unique voice, as can be heard on this split. (Each band contributes a track, displaying why they are at the top of their respective genre) Yet, the collaborative tracks on this album demonstrate the aural magic that appears when the two bands combine their forces. If you're a fan of either Year of No Light or thisquietarmy, or a doom or drone fan in general, be sure to check this one out.
First 100 orders will get an exclusive Year Of No Light/thisquietarmy guitar pick.

Royal Talons cd

ConSouling Sounds is thrilled to present Royal Talons. Hailing from Denver (US), these riff mongers are just as eager as us to introduce their self titled debut album.
The cross-over between brutal sludge doom and psychedelic stoner doom on this album is second to none. Offering an adrenaline surge and being trance-inducing at the same time is no small feat of its own, but it's the clever compositions that make Royal Talons really stand out. The brutal, heavy, riff monsters of songs flood the entire room, but are nonetheless tightly controlled and meticulously constructed. Hints of hardcore/punk and noisy edges complete this highly original doom trip, with a gleamingly dark and massive production as the icing on the cake.
This debut album is a tantalizing experience for fans of ultra-heavy psychedelic sludge doom that will surely make your mouth water for more.

Gnaw Their Tongues - Per Flagellum Sanguemque, Tenebras Veneramus (2x10" gatefold sleeve)

Brutally cathartic, impossibly suffocating... doom and noise with a seriously terrifying cinematic edge. ConSouling Sounds are proud to present this 2x10" vinyl re-issue of the 2011 album by Gnaw Their Tongues, originally unleashed into the world of the living by Crucial Blast. Finding itself among an extensive discography of pitch black ritual noise chaos, 'Per Flagellum Sanguemque, Tenebras Veneramus' is among some of Gnaw Their Tongues' most affecting work - an apex of dramatic, nightmarish violence where the doomed distortion and clattering percussion intermingle with alien string squeals and hopeless, depraved shrieks.

Limited to 250 copies, the first 75 come with an exclusive CDr of additional material.

Following two church of ra releases out now:

Syndrome - Now and Forever

Mathieu Vandekerckhove, mostly known for his work with Amenra. For years the self-taught musician learned and studied his craft of songwriting and sound scaping, mainly as a means to self exploration, meditation and attempts at channelling negative into positive energy, this while staying below the surface at all times.
Now 2012 marks a turning point for Mathieu Vandekerckhove and Syndrome as he steps forward, with the epic 28 minute long "Now And Forever". Dedicated to his son Wolf, this track offers words of guidance and will grant you a look into the heart and soul of the artist. Close your eyes and hear the beating heart of pure artistic freedom.
First 75 orders will get an extra booklet with photography by Mathieu Vandekerkhove.

Youcan stream a one minute preview here:

chve/nate hall - split 7"

This release is a split 7" from Neurot recording artists CHVE (Colin H. Van Eeckhout of Amenra, Kingdom, Sembler Deah, ...) and Nate Hall (USX Apallachia / former US Christmas). Both frontmen now write their own solo work, ranging from dark folk to psych blues rock.
This release will be their first solo work to be set free into the world.
The CHVE side will feature his minimal folk song "She never left" (check out the clip below).
The Nate Hall side features 'Dark Star' from his upcoming solo album 'A Great River' set to be released on Neurot records in May.

The impression is limited to 300 copies in a gatefold 7" sleeve.

Alkerdeel - Morinde

No better way to start off the apocalyptical year 2012 than with the unleashing of ALKERDEEL's second full album 'Morinde' upon this world.
After a few successful demo's/EP'S, these Belgians are pushing up the ante. It's clear ALKERDEEL has progressed quite a bit since the release of 'Luizig'. Although the familiar elements are still present - raw sludge/doom infused with filthy black metal - the compositions have matured and gained more depth. The lo-fi approach of the previous albums made room for a more thoughtful recording process, making it sound perhaps more accessible but also allows the sound to reveal all its sluggish nuances. But rest assured, ALKERDEEL remains ALKERDEEL: a mean putrid steamroller that takes no prisoners!

Besides the regular cd and (colored) vinyl version, there is also a diehard edition in a wooden box holding an exclusive clear vinyl, cd, exclusive t-shirt, giant poster, exclusive sew on patch, exclusive button and band pictures, limited to 100 copies. Packages with t-shirt, girly or hooded sweater also available.

Amenra - Mass II

ConSouling Sounds is delighted to present the rerelease of Amenra's Mass II, together with Ritual II, for the very first time on vinyl. Belgium's premier doom/sludge/postmetal outfit's massive sound unfolds itself in its full potential this time around. Billy Anderson (Eyehategod, Melvins, Neurosis, Swans, ...) remastered the album and he truly managed to unleash the beast. The combination of moving compositions, the unique Amenra riffing and the violent outpours never sounded more intense, dramatic and profound. You didn't really experience Mass II, until you've heard this version!
The impression is limited to 500 copies (75 clear/splatter, 125 clear, 300 black), all on 180 grams vinyl to contribute to the ultimate listening experience.

Syndrome - Floating Veins

It is with great pride we bring you "Floating Veins", the debut album of Syndrome, the lastest moniker under which Mathieu Vandekerckhove (Amenra, Kingdom, Sembler Deah) operates. Opposed to the emotional and violent outpour that Amenra delivers, Syndrome explores the very boundaries of introspective music.
Prepare to be taken on a narrative musical journey through five acts each painting a different picture but trancending into one dramatic moment where everything seems to fall into place perfectly. While the ambient soundscapes and the erie droning riffs are the blood, the apocalyptic drums and beats are the pulse. The tides stow the listener right into the roaring heart of Syndrome. Until it stops.
Comes in a vinyl style 3mm spined sleeve. Limited to 500 copies (first 100 copies with extra dvd Project 01).

You can listen to the track "absence" here: Absence.mp3

Aderlating - Spear of Gold and Seraphim Bone part one

Aderlating is slowly but surely making a name for itself. Starting out as an outlet for Mories (Gnaw Their Tongues/De Magia Veterum) to bring his unique dark aurual vison to the live environment, together with Eric (Mowlawner), Aderlating evolved into a solid recording/performing band.
After releasing various splits (Cdr, LP), ep's (Free downloads, Cassettes) and two full lenghts (Cdr, Cd) Aderlating is now ready to unleash new tidal waves of darkness with "Spear of Gold & Seraphim Bone I", the first part of a diptych. (The second part is scheduled to be released later this year).
Ranging from subtle ambient to noise-drenched slabs of black metal, rumbling low-ends, screeching highs and driven industrial brutality, Aderlating is captivating and disenchanting at the same time. The game of attracting and repelling casts the audience under a dark spell. And this metaphor really isn't far fetched. The whole atmosphere breathes a hypnotic darkness, which has a distinct ritualistic feel to it.
It's surely no surprise this work is the follow-up of 2010's "Devotional Hymns", as Aderlating's sounds seem to be vile ritual hymns of pure darkness and horror. It purges all the filth, bleakness and darkness of the world, and channels it into a mind numbing sonic abuse the listener just can't get enough of. The word 'cathartic' never has been more in its place...
Comes in a vinyl style 3mm spined sleeve. The impression is limited to 500 copies.

Magnetic Fields & Zero Dimension Planes: drone and ambient compilation

It's very hard to define what exactly ambient and drone music is. It's a broad spectrum with hardly any boundaries and which is open to a lot of experiments. Sometimes gentle sounds without much variations, other times dreams-evoking and oppressive rhythms.
With this compilation we try to do justice to this diversity, as the sound palette goes from monotone soundscapes and guitar drones over dark ambient and field recordings to electronic and new age-like ambient.

Nearly all tracks are unreleased and/or exclusive to this release. Featured artists are: [multer], Blyndhæð, Distant Fires Burning, IAM., Mirko Uhlig, Monotonos, N, Nihilum, Premonition Factory, Simulacra, Soundsketching and Tzesne.
Comes in a folded A2-poster designed by Merijn Dietvorst from .vorst ontwerp

Aidan Baker - Lost in the Rat Maze

Aidan Baker needs no introduction: this prolific Canadian classically trained multi-instrumentalist has generously contributed to the doom/drone/ambient genre. Nadja, Arc and Whisper Room are just a few of his manifestations.
As a solo artist he also composed quite an impressive backcatalogue. Consouling Sounds is proud to add another release to that list, as we're quite confident this one will stand out in this discography.
With Lost in the Rat Maze Aidan Baker produces an unconventional album - even to Baker-standards. Having been known for his extensive ambient soundscapes, Baker chose a different approach to his sound weaving - albeit true to the "Bakersound".
In stead of a densely layered and broad sound palette, Baker has almost embraced a "postrockish" method of composing. More compact, pointed and clear progressions can be discovered, together with a diverse array of instruments, sounds and techniques. Expect the classic Aidan Baker elements: captivating, fascinating and repetitive mesmerizing sounds - but with a different twist to it.
Limited to 900 copies.
100 copies come in an oversized heavy sleeve with three additional photos from a selection of twelve. 800 copies in a regular jewelcase.

[multer] - Berge im Bunker

The two tracks on this release are based on the music that was originally composed for the Berge im Bunker exhibition by Barbara Meisner that ran from August 2008 to May 2009 in Dortmund.
The collage is a repeating, light melodic environmental soundscape that creates an unheimlich feel, while incorporating all [multer] elements: loops, electronica , drones... Still it is not a typical release for the German duo as it is their most minimal effort up to date.
The music will get the best out of your imagination.

CD (NO CD-R) limited to 200 copies.

Viscera/// 2: As Zeitgeist Becomes Profusion of the I

Since its inception in 2000, Viscera/// strayed quite a bit from the grind paths they were threading. What started out as a straightforward brutalcore band meandered into an experimental quartet.
With the introduction of psychedelic sounds, postcore bits and ambient/drone pieces it's quite easy to brand this outfit as the next "post"-band. But there's more that meets the eye:
The band never completely let go of their roots, balancing brutal grindcore with delicate post metal influences. This results in a truly unique sound that can shift from fragile to frenzy in a heartbeat.
With this latest effort, 2 - As Zeitgeist Becomes Profusion of the I, these Italians produced their most ambitious and mature offering to this day which makes it the most complex yet accessible listening experience Viscera/// ever offered.

New signing: Viscera///

Viscera/// is a northern Italy based combo formed in 2000, which started as a raw brutalcore band to become now one of the most against the grain and experimental reality in the whole "post" scene.
Their style gathers the experiences of psych moods, post HC, 70's space rock, drone and ambient, just to create an intimate and extremely personal view of heavy music.
Through the years the band has published many releases and has been playing an uncountable number of gigs around its country and (so far) the rest of Europe, frequently sharing the stage with other great names.

Members of Viscera/// also play in MoRkObOt, The Drop Machine, Malasangre, Tombstone Highway, Mount Piezein Circle and Self Human Combustion.
Viscera/// occasionally appears with a reduced line-up under the name of Cives Ra.

On October 31st we will release their second full length 2 - As Zeitgeist Becomes Profusion of the I

Methadrone - Better Living (Through Chemistry)

Methadrone has come a long way since its conception as a 2-bassed sludge/drone monolith. Craig Pillard (who has been part of Evoken, Incantation, e.a.) gradually expanded his sound through experiment with acoustic guitars and other vocal collaborations. Better Living (Through Chemistry) is pushing beyond the boundaries of traditional doom music, resulting in well balanced atmospheric pieces of music which make this third full album the apogee of Methadrone's oeuvre this far.
On this innovative journey, that bridges the gaps between doom, drone, dark ambient, wave and even neo-folk, Pillard sided with Jason Wallach (The Unquiet Void), Tara Vanflower (Lycia) and Thierry Arnal (fragment.) to present their next step in the evolution of gloomy music.

Out now, order it throug our store.

Monday, September 21st

Mondrian Oak - Through Early Seed

Mondrian Oak conceived in autumn 2007, and slowely paved the path to launch their debut album Through Early Seed.
These Italians shared the stage with a lot of great bands (Zippo, Gerda, Last Minute To Jaffna, Viscera/// e.a.), which most certainly helped them to shape their own voice within the genre: they have crafted a sound which is evocative and psychedelic merely with the classic rock instruments, devoid of excess. With their loud, doomy and gloomy outbursts that alternate with intimistic accoustic parts, their music is situated on the crossroads between postrock and postcore.
The maturity and originality they put in the arrangements of the composition makes this a debut album that truly stands out, and predicts a promising future!

Limited to 300 copies
